Blizzards

These severe windy snowstorms are serious life threateners. During a blizzard, make sure your back is turned into the wind, your head bowed, and face covered to stop debris from flying into your eyes. Seek shelter and keep a shovel or stick handy to dig yourself out if the blizzard buries you in snow.

GET PRACTICAL:

AVOID THE GLARE

Snow blindness is caused by glare from the sun reflecting off bright white snow and ice. Your eyes can feel sore, teary, and painful and your eyesight may be affected. Wear ski goggles or wraparound sunglasses. Got no goggles? Improvise. Cut small, narrow slits into flexible tree bark, such as birch, or in duct tape strips. Add holes at either end and tie around your head with string or a spare boot lace.
